Where to watch the Oscars (and Oscar nominees), besides your couch

Local movie screenings and watch parties add a little razzle-dazzle to the annual experience.

Is this Laurie Metcalf’s year to shine? Will a movie that seems to condone bestiality win best picture? Just where are those “three billboards” again?

If you live in NoVA and these are your burning questions, you’re in luck. This weekend, you may either choose to cram for the Academy Awards (airing Sunday, March 4 at 8 p.m. on ABC) by streaming any film you can get your hands on from the comfort of your living room sofa, or perhaps throw a lavish watch party at home with trophy-shaped chocolate bars and champagne. But if you’re looking for something that gets you outside of your four walls, consider one of these area watch parties and pre-party events:

Times vary
Still haven’t seen the best-picture nominees? See them all at once at a nearby AMC theater, in the form of a 24-hour marathon. // Multiple locations

Tickets are $20 for nonmembers and advance purchases are recommended. // Arlington Cinema ‘N’ Drafthouse: 2903 Columbia Pike, Arlington

Oscars and Bubbles Viewing Party
Sunday, 7 p.m.
In your finest red-carpet wear, join a cast of party-gatherers to sip Oscars-themed cocktails and enjoy Blanc de Blanc from Greenhill Winery at Salamander’s Gold Cup Wine Bar.
