Now through Oct. 1, Theatre Washington and Today Tix hosts Theatre Week, providing audiences with affordable access to local theater performances. Tickets range in price from $15-30, and performances will be held at 1st Stage Tysons, Peter’s Alley Theatre Productions and Signature Theatre.
“Our primary goal is to entice people to try something new, which includes drawing in people who have never experienced a live performance,” says Amy Austin, Theatre Washington’s president and CEO.

Play: Jesus Hopped the A Train
Cost: $15
Awaiting trial for murder in New York Prison Rikers Island, Angel Cruz meets a serial killer who has found Jesus and is born again. The meeting sets Cruz down a course that will change his trial forever.
What you can expect: “An intense and powerful performance which makes you think and question what really constitutes good and evil,” says Eileen Mandell, community relations director at 1st Stage.
Peter’s Alley Theatre Productions
Theatre on the Run: 3700 S. Four Mile Run Drive, Arlington
Play: Rapture, Blister, Burn
Cost: $15
Graduate school roommates Catherine and Gwen reunite in their 40s to find themselves unsatisfied with their life direction. The girls, along with Gwen’s husband, Don (who once dated Catherine), search for happiness.
What you can expect: “An evening of witty comedy mixed with poignant drama that is sure to provoke lively discussion post-show,” says Aly Ettman, founder of Peter’s Alley Theatre Productions.
Signature Theatre

Musical: A Little Night Music
Cost: $35
Taking place in Sweden one night in 1900, this play finds four strangers tangled in love affairs.
What you can expect: “To laugh and cry. It is a funny and very moving story. Anyone who enjoys musical theater, especially the work of Stephen Sondheim, will love this show,” says James Gardiner, deputy director of creative content and publicity at Signature Theatre.
