Pregame your Saturday brunch with a barre workout at Kapnos Taverna

First there was beer yoga. Now there’s barre and brunch.

We’ve heard of beer during yoga, and now there’s the rising barre-and-brunch fitness trend for those who like to immediately reward themselves after burning calories.

On July 29 and Aug. 26, Kapnos Taverna diners can earn their traditional Saturday brunch marathon by doing a barre workout beforehand. The Arlington Kapnos location will host the class on its upper-level mezzanine, and its weekly all-you-can-eat brunch will follow in the downstairs dining room.

The class, which combines ballet poses with elements of yoga and Pilates while using a bar or another means of steadying the body throughout the workout, will be led by D.C.-based Pilates and barre instructor Chauna Bryant. Both those with and without barre experience are welcome to join—just make sure to bring a mat, towel and water.

The class begins at 10:30 a.m., and afterward participants can indulge in the restaurant’s all-you-can-eat brunch. Stuffed grape leaves, the Greek version of bagel and lox, omelets, hashes and orzo pasta are all on offer. And it wouldn’t be brunch without booze, so for an added fee, the meal can be paired with 25-cent mimosas or Richmond-based brewery Hardywood Park’s Pilsner for $3. Check out the full menu at the Kapnos website.

Kapnos’ Barre and Brunch class is $40 per person. Register for the class right here.
