It’s still the beginning of the year, and that means its time to get out of our comfort zones. This week’s comfort zone to break through is singing. This means means that all that singing in the shower is about to pay off.  Maybe you just watched “20 Feet from Stardom“ and want to challenge your vocal cords and your courage this weekend.

We’ve got you covered with five of the best spots in NoVA to break out the jams. We recommend bringing some friends, because you can always use backup singers.

Nick’s Nightclub
Even if you consider yourself a devotee of all music, sometimes you just feel like singing the soulful sounds of country, and there’s nothing odd about that. From 8:30 p.m. to 1:3o a.m. every Friday and Saturday night, you can let yourself be a little bit country in the back room of Nick’s Nightclub. If you’re feeling a little Rock n’ Roll, Nick’s has you covered too.  The Karaoke at Nick’s covers a little bit of everything. There is a $7 cover  charge for guys, and a $5 charge for ladies after 9 p.m.

642 South Pickett Street, Alexandria, 22304

Fast Eddies
Starting at 9:30 every Saturday and Sunday and ending when the bar closes, Fast Eddies of Centreville features DJ Anthony, more commonly known as Mr. Fingaz. Mr. Fingaz has over 15 years experience with Karaoke, and with that experience comes a seemingly unlimited selection of songs to sing. Karaoke is held in the underground section, so you don’t need to be concerned about performing for the entire restaurant.

14114 Lee Highway Centreville,  20120

Cafe Da-in
A specific Karaoke bar in Annandale, Cafe Da-In has Karaoke all day, every day. Their weekend hours are 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. The cafe hosts a very strong K-Pop selection along with with a typical American selection. Cafe Da-In has a bar section, and private Karaoke rooms that are sound proofed so you can sing as loud as you want, and your only audience will be your friends. There is a $20 minimum when using a credit card.

7220-B Columbia Pike, Annandale,  22003

Rock It Grill
As the name suggests, this restaurant is a place to rock out. With nightly karaoke starting at 9:30 p.m. and ending in the wee morning hours of 1:30 a.m., Nelson’s Karaoke Showtime DJs with its 80,000-song repertoire. Rock It Grill is definitely a place to check out, just make sure you’re at least 21 and have $10, otherwise you won’t be able to get through the door.

1319 King Street, Alexandria, 22314

Patriot’s Cafe
If the college scene is more your game, head to Patriot’s Cafe for their Karaoke night, Fridays and Saturdays starting at 9:30 p.m. and ending at last call, which is 2 a.m. As the name suggests, Patriot’s Cafe is geared towards college students, and as such a rowdier atmosphere should be expected.

10376 Fairfax Blvd, Fairfax
