If your spring cleaning has you dreaming of acquiring new-but-old items, then you’ll want to start filling your calendar with the spring antiques markets coming to our region. Spring brings more than a few excuses to dedicate a weekend (or a few) to sauntering amidst the booths at a beautifully curated market. There are treasures to be found and, if you’re lucky, deals to be had.
DC Big Flea, Manassas
April 18 and 9
While most of the spring markets take advantage of the spring weather, the DC Big Flea isn’t tempting fate with April showers. Instead, their indoor-only market goes on rain or shine. More than 600 vendors will be selling a range of furniture, decor, jewelry and clothing. Don’t expect to cover it all in a day — you may need the full weekend. 8300 Sudley Rd., Manassas, $15
Mid Atlantic Antique and Garden Festival, Poolesville, Maryland
May 2 and 3
It’s worth crossing the border over to Aix La Chapelle farm in Maryland to attend the Mid Atlantic Antique and Garden Festival. With more than 60 vendors from 18 states, this show specializes in fine decorative arts. Expect high-end antiques dating back to 18th and 19th century American and European roots, as well as sophisticated garden decor. There are also events throughout the weekend to bring antique lovers together, including a farm-to-table dinner and a royal tea. 19130 Jerusalem Rd., Poolesville, Tickets start at $15
Great Finds Market, Great Falls
May 8 and 9
The Great Finds Market features more than 30 vendors. With its approachable size, easy parking, and well-priced wares, it’s a fabulous market to fit in on a weekend afternoon. You don’t need to make a full day of it — it’s perfect for a few hours. You’ll find a range of styles here, including many vendors that specialize in a layered, collected look that leans more traditional. Love blue and white? Oil paintings? Interesting antiques? This is your market. 9818 Virginia 193, Great Falls, Tickets start at $10
The Fishersville Antiques Expo, Fishersville
May 8 and 9
Need an excuse to trek out west during the spring, particularly if it involves getting out into the Shenandoah Valley? The Fishersville Antiques Expo is one of those excuses. This market welcomes more than 300 vendors, making it one of the largest in the area. Expect to find a range of antiques and vintage items, including primitives, Americana items, and even midcentury furniture. 277 Expo Rd., Fishersville, Tickets start at $5
