8 Shops to Visit in NoVA on Small Business Saturday

Grab gifts and other items you want while supporting your neighbors.

By Bennett Freeze November 27, 2024 at 11:51 am

Small Business Saturday shakes up the yearly Black Friday malaise of shopping at big-box retailers by encouraging holiday shoppers to buy from businesses owned by their neighbors. With thousands of small businesses right here in NoVA, the selection is exceptional.

Ditch the endless lines this weekend and check out one of these shops in NoVA for Small Business Saturday.

Casual Adventure Outfitters

Find fantastic, durable outdoor wear and sporting goods at this Arlington outfitter. Casual Adventure stocks a wide array of gifts for the nomadic wanderer in your life, including camping gear, tactical wear, and pocketknives. For Small Business Saturday, this family-owned business has deals on name brands like Osprey, Camelbak, The North Face, and Eureka! 3451 Washington Blvd., Arlington

Mode on Main by Mara

Chic and sophisticated, this boutique clothier in Old Town Fairfax is on a mission to help customers effortlessly improve their fashion with new and vintage pieces. Stock is constantly changing, and online ordering is available. Swing by this Saturday to find a new piece for yourself or a gift for someone special. Maybe a long-sleeve midi dress for yourself or cactus socks for somebody prickly in your life. 10417 Main St., Fairfax

The Wine Attic

Be the wine expert this holiday while discovering something new at The Wine Attic. The staff is highly knowledgeable, and the selection is wide enough at the Clifton and Lorton Station locations to delight just about any palate. This could be the perfect hostess gift. After grabbing the wine, don’t forget to pick up some artisanal cheese, craft beer, and antipasto fare. 7145 Main St., Second Floor, Clifton; 9000 Lorton Station Blvd., Ste. Q, Lorton

Patina Polished Living

Revamp your home aesthetic at this design boutique within walking distance of the Alexandria waterfront. Shop for new furniture, level up your décor or tackle that pesky design project you’ve been putting off. Amanda Mertins and Kimberly Weiler run this shop and curate everything with an eye toward finding unusual items. Gifting here is easy. Choose from a trove of accessories, jewelry (for him and her), and curios. 111 S. Columbus St., Alexandria

Middleburg Books

Don’t miss the opportunity to visit this dreamy bookstore just a few blocks from Middleburg’s main stretch. Browse from classics to modern favorites in a renovated space that dates back to the 1750s. Ask about the shop’s book subscriptions for adults and children. They make brilliant last-minute gifts when you can decide what to buy. 17 S. Madison St., Middleburg

Leesburg Gourmet

Foodies will love the seasonal treats, craft beers, and artisanal chocolate offered here. Stock up on holiday munchies like Neuhaus Belgian chocolate, marzipan, and artisanal cheeses. Grab a couple of bottles of wine before you leave for a luxurious evening out after shopping on Small Business Saturday. 29 S. King St., Leesburg

The Golden Fox Boutique

From candles with fantastic scents to upscale home décor and clothing, this woman-owned shop is a great place to find a gift for someone who prioritizes quality pieces. Swing by Paula Frishman’s boutique for luxury hand soaps, adorable Swiftie beaded pouches, a glitter mimosa kit (because even your mimosas can sparkle with holiday cheer). 2700 Clarendon Blvd., Ste. 430, Arlington

River-Sea Chocolate Factory

River-Sea Chocolate expertly crafts delectable sweets that are perfect as hostess gifts, stocking stuffers, or party favors. From bean to bar, every product is roasted in small batches and tempered by hand. Look for bar or truffle samplers to gift, mini chocolate packs for stockings, or indulge in a single-origin bar for those chilly winter nights where you don’t want to share. 4520 Daly Dr., Ste. 100, Chantilly
