Where to Find Festive Holiday Markets and Craft Fairs Around NoVA

There’s no better way to get into the holiday spirit than with a seasonal shopping spree for gifts, sweet treats, and handmade goods.

’Tis the season! It’s time to enjoy holiday markets, crafts fairs and festivals, and pop-up shops around town. Make your holiday shopping less stressful and more fun with these Northern Virginia–area holiday shopping venue events. 

Pop-Ups, Craft Fairs, and Festivals

Chick’s Picks by Hillary 

December 2-18, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Chick’s Picks by Hillary will be popping up starting December 2 at One Loudoun. One hundred artisans will be appearing in the pop-up event. Check them out for unique, funky fashion and home accessories all created by women for women. One Loudoun: 20420 Exchange St., Ashburn

McLean Holiday Arts and Crafts Festival 

December 2-4, times vary

This three-day indoor craft show has been produced by the McLean Community Center for 40 years. It features around 80 regional artisans and includes pottery, jewelry, holiday décor, and more, catering to all budgets big and small. McLean Community Center: 1234 Ingleside Ave., McLean, $5 (for all three days), free for children under 12

Mosaic District Holiday Gift Fair 

December 3-4 & 17-18, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. 

The Mosaic District Holiday Village and Gift Fair returns this year for some serious shopping from makers curated by URBNmarket. District Ave., Fairfax

Falls Church Holiday Craft Show 

December 3 (gift/craft show 9 a.m.-4 p.m., children’s shop 10 a.m.-3 p.m.); December 4 (gift/craft show 10 a.m.-3 p.m.) 

Just $1 gets you admission to both days of the annual craft show. Featuring almost 40 crafters and merchants, expect to see distinct handmade gifts and more. Live entertainment Saturday and Sunday will help get you in the mood to shop. Also, with the help of volunteers, kids can come and pick out gifts (for $6 or less) for friends and family. Volunteers are also able to wrap the children’s gifts free of charge. Falls Church Community Center: 223 Little Falls St., Falls Church

Holiday Markets

Del Ray Fine Art and Craft Holiday Market 

First three weekends in December: Fridays 6-9 p.m., Saturdays & Sundays 11 a.m.-6 p.m. 

The 27th annual event is open for the first three weekends of December. With different artists featured every weekend, it’ll be worth it to going back. The market will feature ceramics, watercolors, photography, jewelry, glass, mixed media, and more. Wall calendars for 2023 featuring art by Del Ray Artisans members will be on hand for purchase as well. Del Ray Artisans Gallery: 2704 Mount Vernon Ave., Alexandria

City of Fairfax Holiday Market 

December 2-4, 9-11, times vary

Support local artists with this Fairfax holiday event. Vendors will vary each of the two weekends and while you’re browsing, there will be live music, dancing, and more. Plus, don’t miss a special visit from Santa himself on December 4. Old Town Square: 10415 North St., Fairfax

Herndon Wintermarkt 

Opens December 10, noon-7 p.m. 

The historic Herndon Wintermarkt brings European charm to Northern Virginia. The market is focused on showing the diversity of the community and surrounding metro area. Expect a family-focused event with lots of entertainment and gift inspiration for your whole list. All the while, enjoy a tradition that dates back to Saxony, Germany during the Middle Ages. Corner of Lynn and Station Streets, Herndon

Old Town Alexandria Christmas Market 

December 10, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. 

Wander around John Carlyle Square for one of the biggest holiday markets in the area. Over 110 artisans, independent consultants and crafters, as well as additional area small businesses will be showcasing the best they have to offer. Start checking off your list as you peruse everything from hair care to jewelry, baked goods, and more. John Carlyle Square: 300 John Carlyle St., Alexandria

Rosslyn Cheer 2022: Holiday Market 

Dec. 10 & 11, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. 

Join the community for a weekend of shopping local vendors and their offerings, including art, jewelry, bath products, snacks, and more. Santa will be available from 12:30-3 p.m. both days and he will also be accepting letters for him in his special North Pole mailbox. There will also be an ornament-decorating station and free hot chocolate. Central Place Plaza: 1800 N. Lynn St., Arlington
