If any city could make a sale into a full-blown festival, it’s Alexandria. Thus, the 12th Annual Summer Sidewalk Sale will have decidedly party-like vibes when it kicks off for the weekend of August 14.
For those unfamiliar, a sidewalk sale is pretty much what it sounds like. Shops move merchandise out to the sidewalk, seeking to clean house in the summer. But since this is a massive boutique sale in a small-shopping mecca like Alexandria, you’re likely to encounter deals you wouldn’t find anywhere else.
The 12th annual Alexandria Summer Sidewalk Sale will span from Old Town through Del Ray and feature more than 70 participating boutique shops–the most yet featured in the sale. New participants include some of Alexandria’s most beloved and popular stops, including the Goldfinch, Mint Collective, and pop-up Kate & Lo.
It’s buzzy enough that there’ll be music in the streets. The event will include music from local bands each day on King Street. To support the events, Visit Alexandria (@VisitAlexVA) and the Old Town Business Association (@oldtownbusiness) will be giving away gift cards on their respective Instagram accounts.
