Simon Pearce to open storefront in Alexandria

Soon you will be able to fill your home with glassware, home decor, and pottery that is handcrafted on the East Coast.

By Michele Kettner May 13, 2021 at 11:13 am

Simon Pearce is finally making its way down to NoVA. The handcrafted Vermont- and Maryland-made glass and pottery company will be opening its 11th store in Alexandria.

While an opening date has not been announced, you can start planning what you’ll be adding to your shopping cart now. The handmade glass and pottery creations include everything from decanters and wine glasses for your bar cart to glass bowls and hurricane candle holders for your table.

If you can’t wait for the location to open, you can either visit the store’s website or stop by a local department store to pick up a piece. This includes Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, Reunions, Carter & Spence, and more.

When the store opens, it will be the first Simon Pearce location in Virginia. The next closest store is located near Deep Creek Lake in Oakland, Maryland, where the factory store hosts glassblowing workshops and public tours on how these one-of-a-kind pieces are made.

Founder Simon Pearce, for whom the store is named, began his passion for handcrafted glass as an apprentice in his father’s pottery studio when he was 16. After honing his craft throughout Europe, the glassmaker opened his namesake studio during the 1970s.
