These NoVA Shops Have Incredible Women’s Shoe Selections

Addicted to peep-toes or gaga over stacked-heel sandals? These locally owned shops have what you need to put a spring back into your step.

Updated June 3, 2022. Those of us who have spent the drearier months inside our homes have gotten all too used to slippers, flip flops, and fuzzy socks. If you’re ready to get out there, treat yourself to something fun for your feet at one of these  independent boutiques in the area offering designer footwear, vintage options, and shoes by local makers.

The Shoe Hive

These twin boutiques (pictured above) in Old Town carry shoes that are both sophisticated and approachable. Think brands like AGL, Aquatalia, French Sole, Golden Goose, Jerome Dreyfuss, Mou Mou, Paul Green, Rag & Bone, Sam Edelman, Sofft, Superga, Ulla Johnson, Veja, Veronica Beard, and Vince; you can also peruse designer clothes and accessories. 127 South Fairfax St., Alexandria

Bishop Boutique

Located in the heart of Old Town, this shop offers a unique selection of footwear, accessories, clothing, and seasonal items that run the gamut from classic to avant-garde. Brands on a given day could include Kaanas, Loeffler Randall, Marc Fisher, Andre Assous, LK Bennett, and All Black Footwear. 815-B King St., Alexandria

Muz and Rose

Named after founder Elyse Smith’s two grandmothers: Grandma Muz from Missouri and Grandma Rosella from Italy, this shop in Leesburg carries sustainably and ethically sourced goods, as well as those from local makers and curated vintage items. Unique finds include vintage cowboy boots, saddle shoes, mules, and wedges. 3 Loudoun St. SW, Leesburg

Misguided Angels

This Leesburg concept features an array of items for women including clothes, shoes, and handbags. Owner Kim Hutchings looks to bring items from up-and-coming designers that won’t break the bank; the name is both a reference to Hutchings’ previous life as a manager at Victoria’s Secret and the first song she and her husband danced to at their wedding. Look for finds from Rollasole, Vintage Havana, and Dolce Vita. 14 South King St., Leesburg

Urban Posh Boutique

This family-run, small business in historic Occoquan grew out of the co-owner’s pop-up boutique in her hair salon, Good Hair Day; since 2017 it’s grown to include an online following and home and gift section. You’ll find clothing, accessories, and shoes by brands like Martin Vallen, Natasha, Zinc, Mi.iM, and more. 302 Mill St., Occoquan

Upscale Seconds

This consignment boutique in Haymarket sells high-end, pre-owned women’s clothing, handbags, accessories, and shoes at up to 75 percent off retail prices. Grab that perfect pair of pumps, flats, booties, or wedges. 14891 Washington St., Haymarket

Kiskadee

A fixture in the trendy neighborhood of Del Ray since 2007, this boutique calls itself a one-stop-shop for clothes, shoes, and gifts. Shop for footwear from brands like Thea White/Twister, Eileen Fisher, Lemon Jelly, Seychelles, J Slides and Kork-Ease. 2202 Mount Vernon Ave., Alexandria
