10 style must-haves for summer, from local stylists

Fashion-forward Lauren Rothman and Lindsey Evans spill their favorites, from skin care and comfy clothes to local businesses and nonprofits, for summer 2020.

By Jennifer Zeleski July 9, 2020 at 2:34 pm

Making your way through a socially distant summer doesn’t have to be a drag. You may not be wearing your favorite romper and wedge heels to brunch with friends, but you can still make the most of your time, whether it’s spent in your backyard or relishing in the comforts of working from home.

We caught up with local stylists Lauren A. Rothman of Styleauteur and Lindsey Evans of Lindsey Evans Studio to find out their current favorite products (which you can grab too!) from local shops and more to stay sane this summer.

Fun in the Sun

LE: “Sun Bum Sunscreen is my favorite this time of year! It smells so yummy, and it’s reef-friendly!” // Ulta, $5-$18

Barely There

LR: “One of my favorite cosmetics are the Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops. They’re a definite go-to in quarantine when you don’t necessarily need to always do your makeup, but you want to feel put-together. I recommend it to a lot of my clients, but I also wear it myself when I’m not doing total makeup for a Zoom call.” // Sephora, $36

Work from Home

LE: “This at-home set from Donni, available at the local online boutique Wylie Grey, is what dreams are made of for WFH! Totally cute and comfy while still feeling put together with a pair of sneakers.” // Wylie Grey, $234 (top), $114 (bottoms)

Cute & Comfy

LR: “Comfort One Shoes had a great summer shoe sale that I took so many clients to, and I even bought four pairs of shoes for myself. They’re awesome. I got a really cute pair of wedge-studded espadrilles that everyone thinks are Valentino, but they’re really Comfort One.”

A Little Shine

LE: “I love the Marta Pendant in yellow gold from Sophie Blake. It’s a beautiful layering piece for summer looks. I love a necklace trio right now but finding a great looking, non-generic pendant can be tricky! Fortunately, Sophie has made us one.” // Sophie Blake, $295

Pretty in the Pool

LR: “One of my favorite places to shop, hands down, is Walmart. It’s where I get all of my goodies during COVID, since I need to get groceries and things for all over the house. So this year I got a pool raft and a matching bikini, all for under $28.” // Walmart, prices vary

Work it Out

LE: “I love this workout leopard jumpsuit from House of Styles, a Black-owned company with super-cute workout gear.” // House of Styles, $40

Take a Sip

LR: “Becoming a member of a local winery has been amazing. We just joined Chrysalis Vineyards, which I’m really excited about because it’s dog-friendly and kid-friendly. And the food is unreal. It has a pizza flight. I mean, could anybody dream of something better?” // Chrysalis Vineyards: 39025 John Mosby Highway, Middleburg

Dog Mama

LR: “Who didn’t want a puppy during quarantine? Sadly we lost one of our dogs during COVID-19, and that just made everything harder, so to finally be able to rescue a puppy felt like such a blessing. We just picked her up this week from Lucky Dog Rescue and she’s a Pointer mix. Her name is Bati, which is short for milkshake in Spanish, because she looks like an Oreo milkshake.” // Lucky Dog Animal Rescue: 5159 Lee Highway, Arlington
