For some, getting a bargain is about as good as winning small on a scratch-off lottery ticket. Here’s where you can get your own little adrenaline rush by stocking up your child’s closet and playroom with new-to-you items at steep discounts.

Virginia Run Children’s Consignment Sale
Sept. 21, 8 a.m.
Heading to thrift stores in search of winter clothing can be tough at this time of year. Rather than offering up the slightly worn jackets and heavy socks you might be looking for, everyone is ridding their closets of well-worn bathing suits and shorts. At the Virginia Run Children’s Consignment Sale, the event will feature fall and winter clothing, Halloween costumes, coats, snow gear, boots and more, from sizes infant to teen. Time to stock up for winter, just don’t forget your cash. // 15355 Wetherburn Court, Centreville

Fall Consignment Sale 2019
Sept. 21, 9 a.m.
The second consignment sale of the year for Loudoun/Fairfax Mothers of Multiples will be filled with children’s clothing (sizes newborn to youth-size 16), shoes, toys, books, strollers, technology and more, and over 85% of the items will be for sale for less than $5. Look out for the raffle with giveaways and the bake sale too, and don’t forget your biggest shopping bag! // 44062 Fincastle Drive, Ashburn

Cameron United Methodist Church Children’s Consignment Sale
Sept. 28-29, 9 a.m.
Here’s the deal: come and find clothing (from premature sizes to teens), CDs, DVDs, videos, children’s books, games, accessories, stuffed animals, maternity items, bikes, scooters, tricycles and more at this consignment sale. Bring your kiddos for size and be sure to find the winter clothes before the half-price sale starts on Saturday. As moms like to say, the early bird gets the worm! // 3130 Franconia Road, Alexandria

JBF Eastern Fairfax – Public Sale
Oct. 4-6, 10 a.m.
Time to shop till you drop. The Eastern Fairfax Children’s Consignment event gathers clothing for boys and girls (from infant to teens), shoes, toys, baby needs, maternity items, sporting equipment and more, all for 50% to 90% lower than full retail price. // 8333 Little River Turnpike, Annandale

Christ Church Children’s Consignment Sale
Oct. 5, 8 a.m.
Let’s throw a number out there: 65,000. That’s the number of items, gathered from over 350 families, that will be for sale at the Christ Church Consignment event. Need we say more? Well, just in case you need more convincing, the event will include gently used children’s clothing (with some name-brand items), infant necessities, toys and books, children’s furniture and much more. Come at noon and get everything for half price, too. // 7600 Ox Road, Fairfax Station
