May isn’t just for honoring servicemen and women on Memorial Day weekend; it’s also Military Appreciation Month, which encourages the country to show support for the military.
Two shopping centers in Northern Virginia are celebrating Military Appreciation Month throughout May—Fashion Centre at Pentagon City and Leesburg Corner Premium Outlets—and are honoring those who serve with discounts, events and giveaways.
Fashion Centre at Pentagon City
Fashion Centre at Pentagon City is offering discounts to both active and retired military personnel, as well as their families. Shoppers can visit Guest Services (on the first floor, near Sephora) to receive a brochure with information on over 30 stores (Macy’s, Hugo Boss, Windsor and more) offering the military discounts. Participating stores also have a decal in their windows.
The shopping center is also hosting live, patriotic music every Saturday through May, from 1 to 3 p.m. Ryan Forrester Band Trio will perform on May 18, and Kenny Holmes Trio will play on May 25.
Also on May 25, the Macy’s at Fashion Centre will host a military appreciation event. Those with a military ID will receive a special wristband, which grants them access to exclusive offers, including complimentary makeovers, free coffee and entries into giveaways. From May 24 to 26, all military members will receive a 10% off discount on their purchases.
Through the month, all shoppers at Fashion Centre will receive a free American flag when they spend $15 or more at Stars and Stripes.

Leesburg Corner Premium Outlets
To show its support to the military, stores at the Leesburg Corner Premium Outlets are offering discounts of up to 65% off, available to all active and retired military members. Stores with these discounts include Nike Factory Store, Old Navy Outlet, PacSun, Vineyard Vines and more.
Guest Services, located in the food court, can provide shoppers with a full list of participating brands.
Although in-store events and activations are being held through the end of the month, 60 brands at the outlets offer year-round military discounts. Participating stores display a star decal on their windows.
The outlets also offer local veterans exclusive parking up front daily. The parking spaces can be found outside Adidas, Coach Outlet, the food court, Gap Outlet and Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store.
