The World Cup has officially begun which means we can look forward to a weekend of happy hour deals, greasy food and watching endless amounts of soccer. While we love the World Cup because we enjoy watching the game of soccer (and the men who play in it); there’s also the international appeal, motivating us to wear outfits inspired by our favorite international teams. After all, just because we go to sports bars to watch the games, doesn’t mean we can only throw on a soccer jersey to show our support. Here are five looks inspired by some of our favorite World Cup teams that are stylish, spirited and perfect for a summer weekend sipping on worldly cocktails.
U.S.A
This jeans and tee shirt look screams proud (and stylish) American. The boyfriend jeans and white peasant top are comfortable and loose which is perfect for watching the games outdoors in NoVA’s notorious humid weather. Since the red, white and blue inspired outfit sticks to basics, the outfit incorporates bright and bold accessories which truly show your American pride.
Brazil
The color-block trend is very popular this summer. So this look combines all the colors of the Brazilian flag into a chic fit-and-flare dress. Pair it with a favorite pair of wedges for a summery look that is comfortable, put together and will catch the eye of anyone else rooting for the host team.
England
This outfit has an edgier look inspired by the streets of London that incorporates plaid (a pattern that had a major comeback this year), rockabilly style creeper shoes and trendy overalls. If you’re rooting for the Three Lions during the World Cup, this edgy look is sure to intimidate any opponents with fierce English style.
Ghana
This outfit is perfect for any summer weekend game because it’s fun, spirited and bold. This outfit incorporates a lightweight beach cover up that can be turned into a chic kimono style jacket over a pair of jean shorts and a tank top. The bright accessories add a bold flare that show off Ghana’s colors.
Germany
This look incorporates pieces that are perfect for going straight from work to the bar to watch a game. The leather jacket and studded flats add a touch of edge, but when paired with a feminine mod dress it creates a look that incorporates chic edgy style–perfect for cheering on the European team that has the third most won World Cup championships.
Spain
While the team players may be known as the “men in red” this look is all about women in yellow. This outfit incorporates a stylish geometric crop top, a full neutral skirt and Spain’s notorious espadrille style wedges. The look is fun, fresh and stylish, creating an overall look perfect for a night of sangria and celebrating the defending World Cup champs.
