Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, have announced the birth of their fourth child. JD Vance posted on social media that Alec Neel Vance was born on Sunday. The baby is the first born to a sitting vice president in more than 150 years, AP reported.
“Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother,” the post read. The Vances have three other children: Ewan, 9; Vivek, 6; and Mirabel, 4.
Vance also thanked the military doctors and staff at Walter Reed Medical Center and the White House Medical Center.
The Vances recently made headlines for their plans to lease part of Middleburg’s Wolver Hill Farm from JK Moving Services CEO Chuck Kuhn. The Vances will lease two of Wolver Hill Farm’s four residences and will have partial access to the farm, Washington Business Journal reported.
The nearly 500-acre estate sits on the outskirts of Middleburg, near the Salamander Resort. Wolver Hill LLC, a JK Land Holdings affiliate, acquired the property in 2020 for $8.5 million and placed it into conservation easement.
A source told NBC that the Vances were considering the property “to give their growing family the opportunity to enjoy nature and the great outdoors, just as the vice president and second lady experienced when they were growing up.”
The vice president previously lived in Alexandria’s Del Ray neighborhood; he sold that house when he took office last winter. The family has been living at the Naval Observatory in DC. Vance’s lawyer told CNN that the family will maintain a residence there.
