Budget Airline Cancels Service Out of Dulles

The low-cost carrier had been offering service from Dulles International Airport since 2024.

A year after announcing two new routes, Houston-based Avelo Airlines is no longer scheduling flights out of Dulles International Airport.

The low-cost carrier had been operating Dulles service to New Haven, Connecticut, since 2024. Last March, Avelo announced two new Dulles routes, to Wilmington and Charlotte, North Carolina. It offered some one-way fares starting at $39.

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority confirmed Avelo’s Dulles departure to the Washington Business Journal. “The airports authority appreciates their time here and we remain focused on bringing new opportunities to our passengers,” Crystal Nosal, an airport spokesperson, told WBJ.

Low-cost carriers still offering service out of Dulles include Contour, Frontier, and Breeze Airways.
