Fairfax County Warns of Burglaries Targeting Asian American Business Owners

Detectives say the suspects target master bedrooms and steal safes, cash, jewelry, designer handbags, and clothing.

Fairfax County’s Police Department is urging residents to enhance home security and stay vigilant after a string of recent burglaries. Detectives are investigating eight cases that appear to target local Asian American business owners.

Over the last two months, FCPD said the suspects forced entry and stole safes, cash, jewelry, designer handbags, and clothing. In most of the cases, they targeted master bedrooms and removed safes. In one case alone, they stole $80,000 worth of jewelry and $100,000 in cash.

The perpetrators have disconnected Wi-Fi or other electronics at some of the homes to avoid detection. Detectives believe the suspects conduct surveillance to determine their targets.

The eight instances took place throughout various sections of Fairfax County. They include the following locations:

  • 3200 block of Holly Berry Court in Annandale
  • 3800 block of Roxbury Court in Woodlawn
  • 2700 block of School Street in Jefferson Manor
  • 2600 block of Fort Drive in Fair Haven
  • 2900 block of Graham Road in Woodley North
  • 4200 block of Kerrigan Lane in Fair Oaks
  • 7200 block of Evans Mill Road in McLean
  • 1300 block of Northwyck Court in McLean

Detectives have released surveillance video of suspects in the Holly Berry Court burglary. They are asking residents to report suspicious people or vehicles seen in their community by calling 703-691-2131 (non-emergency) or 911 in an emergency. FCPD stresses that timely reporting can allow officers to respond quickly and identify crime patterns.
