The Inn at Little Washington welcomed a special guest last weekend. Writer, television personality, and all-around lifestyle celebrity Martha Stewart stopped into the award-winning country retreat for a visit with chef and proprietor Patrick O’Connell.
In social media posts, the Inn shared that Stewart joined O’Connell at the Old Dominion Hunt Ball at Meadow Manor, which celebrated 100 years of Old Dominion Hounds.
On Sunday, Stewart spent the afternoon with O’Connell and toured the kitchen and property.
“Sunday evening and dinner at @innatlittlewash with no details spared (ever) and each dish so delicious and beautifully prepared by Chef/owner #patrickoconnell and his incredible staff!!” Stewart said in an Instagram post. “Look at all the photos please and make a trip south to dine in splendor!”
She snapped photos of the acclaimed eatery’s dishes and behind-the-scenes looks at her visit to the kitchen. Photos feature the Inn’s eclectic décor, a team of chefs, plus dishes such as a tuna and swordfish carpaccio and the iconic Apparently a Pear dessert.
O’Connell, who earned a Lifetime Achievement Award from the James Beard Foundation and holds several honorary degrees — including one from the Culinary Institute of America — has been at the helm of The Inn at Little Washington since he opened it in 1978. Since then, it has become one of only 13 three-Michelin-starred restaurants in the United States, and the only one in Virginia. It continuously draws attention for its impeccable attention both to the plate and to the atmosphere.
And Stewart has been in the spotlight recently, too. In a new documentary about her life, Martha, the celebrity delves into the details of her marriage, divorce, and time in jail. The film will be available on Netflix October 30.
