Your chance to get a deal on plants, bushes, and trees comes Friday and Saturday as Ashburn’s Blue Mount Nursery holds a huge two-day auction to liquidate its inventory.
The auction by J.G. Cochran Auctioneers starts on both days at 9 a.m. at the nursery.
Trees to be sold include maples, wisterias, figs, dogwoods, false holly, dwarf lilacs, fruit, cherry, and Japanese cedars. The shrubs listed for auction include boxwoods and green giant arborvitaes.
The plants are “too numerous to mention,” the auction site said. Potting soils, sprays, decorative pots, driftwood, and Christmas items will be among the store inventory auctioned off.
The nursery is also auctioning mulch, grass seeds, wood chips, pea gravel, and firewood, as well as large items, such as a skid loader and greenhouses.
Because it’s an auction, there is a 10 percent buyer’s premium on all items and you have to pay on the same day with cash, cashier’s checks, traveler’s checks, or money orders.
The auction comes as Blue Mount Nursery winds down its operations after 35 years. A new residential development called Dogwood Farm Station is expected to be developed on its land. 20052 Garden Center Ct., Ashburn
