Aerospace Corp. Moves Headquarters to Chantilly from California

The shift to NoVA puts the defense contractor closer to decision makers and stakeholders in the federal government.

By Colleen Kelleher March 27, 2024 at 9:55 am

The Aerospace Corp., an aerospace and defense contractor, moved its corporate headquarters to Chantilly from El Segundo, California.

“Aerospace has taken a leading position navigating through this change as we accelerate our efforts to outpace the threats we face in space. By shifting our headquarters to the Washington, DC, metro region, we will deepen our ties with key decision makers and stakeholders, and reaffirm our commitment to working side-by-side with our partners as they carry out our nation’s critical missions,” said the national nonprofit’s president Steve Isakowitz, in a statement.

Those stakeholders include the Department of Defense, NASA, the intelligence community, and civil agencies.

The Aerospace Corp. operates a federally funded research and development center and has more than 4,600 employees nationwide, with major locations in California, New Mexico, and Colorado.

The headquarters shift to an office at 14745 Lee Rd. took place on March 21, but a news release said there are “no plans for the significant relocation of current employees.” The Aerospace Corp. also has a second facility in Chantilly and one in Crystal City. It also has three offices in Maryland.

The company does plan to invest $100 million at its El Segundo campus “to advance the state-of-the-art engineering, research, and laboratory capabilities,” the news release said.
