Prince William County police have put out a call for assistance from anyone who may have information regarding the location of a 20-year-old Woodbridge man who the department says vanished “under suspicious circumstances.”
Jose Guerrero was last seen leaving his Woodbridge residence on December 21 at approximately 8 p.m., the department said in a Facebook post. That night, Guerrero reportedly told Sheila Perez, his girlfriend and the mother of their 10-month-old daughter, that he was going to run out for a few minutes. That was the last time she saw him, Perez tells NBC 4.
Guerrero’s vehicle was located two days later off of Richmond Highway, just over a mile from his residence.
While police have yet to release detailed information, Perez and other family members tell NBC 4 that they tracked Guerrero’s phone to a park, where they say they found a trail of blood leading from a parking lot into the woods. Blood was also found in the vehicle’s backseat, Perez says.
“There was no Christmas for us; we were grieving for my son,” Guerrero’s mother, Andrea Salgado, tells NBC 4. “His daughter spent her first Christmas without her dad. … We’re not sleeping. We’re not eating. We’re up late. We’re up early. He would never do anything to anybody. He would give up anything for anybody. … It’s not fair, somebody needs to speak up.”
In the Facebook post, the Prince William County Police Department described Guerrero as likely to be “endangered” and “in need of assistance.”
“He is 5’8”, 109 lbs with brown hair and brown eyes,” the post stated. “Last seen wearing a blue sweater, blue jeans, and black shoes.”
