FedExField Has Changed: What You Need to Know for a Great Game Day

Before you head across the bridge to Landover, Maryland, make sure you catch up on the new changes throughout the stadium.

Burgundy-and-Gold fans are set to stream back to FedExField, with the Washington Football Team taking on the Los Angeles Chargers in their home opener on September 12. Six key change-ups to watch for this season:

No paper tickets allowed.

Instead, you’ll need to download the WFT’s official mobile app, which guides you through their all-digital mobile ticketing process. We’ll miss those souvenir stubs!

Your cash is no good here.

No one in the stadium will be accepting paper currency—instead, all concessions, down to your humblest hot dog vendor, will be equipped with touch-free payment options.

We’ll field your questions now.

If the turf beneath Ryan Fitzpatrick’s cleats looks a little different this year, there’s a reason. Washington is playing on a whole new field this year, upgraded to match their more advanced practice fields in Ashburn.

Please don’t go in for a high five from Chase Young.

Or anyone else, no matter how approachable they seem. These days, fans need to stay at least 20 feet away from players, per NFL rules.

Go-go is a go.

Washington is putting in the legwork to entertain its fans this year, thanks to new in-game entertainment. The team’s sideline will play host to an assortment of tumblers, stunters and a drumline, all headlined by a local team of Beat Ya Feet dancers.

Enjoy DMV-inspired dining.

During the offseason, Washington held a culinary competition to select new game-day vendors from across the region. After the dust cleared, NoVA’s own Casa de Ávila Tacos was left standing. The Herndon taqueria will now be slinging their beloved birria tacos inside the stadium.
