As of Tuesday morning, Virginia had 66,102 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 6,435 people hospitalized, 1,853 deaths and 712,350 people tested. Fairfax has the highest total number of cases, with 14,205 to date, with 1,662 hospitalized and 495 deaths. Arlington has reported 2,533 cases with 421 hospitalized and 131 deaths. Alexandria has 2,380 cases with 240 hospitalized and 57 deaths. Loudoun County has 4,216 cases with 278 hospitalized and 90 deaths and Prince William County has 9,479 cases (including Manassas and Manassas City), with 825 hospitalized and 171 deaths. The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, tallied in at 146,521 in the DMV on Tuesday morning. Maryland reported 69,904 cases, Virginia reported 66,102 and Washington, DC reported 10,515. The death toll has reached a total of 5,535, with 3,121 in Maryland, 1,853 in Virginia and 561 in DC. Virginia reported no new coronavirus deaths on July 6, for the first time in three months, and reported an increase of 354 new cases. Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC reported 659 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the region’s total to more than 146,000 since the start of the pandemic. The daily increase is the smallest amount reported in the DMV since April 3. (The Washington Post)

The Washington Nationals canceled their workout scheduled for yesterday, July 6, after the team’s general manager cited a lack of test results from the COVID-19 tests taken on Friday. Mike Rizzo, the general manager, said in a statement that the entire team was tested on Friday, the first day of Summer Training Camp, to meet the league’s current protocol and three days later, the team has yet to receive the results. On Sunday, two players tested positive for COVID-19. (WTOP)

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said on Monday that international students at colleges and universities must leave the country if they are not taking in-person classes in the fall semester. The announcement has sent university officials scrambling and plenty of questions unanswered about the upcoming school year. (The Washington Post)
