A pavilion, several shelters, a boat dock and an eight-mile hiking trail are all planned for a new park set to be developed in Ashburn.

The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors approved the plans for the 71-acre park on May 22, with their sights set on completion in 2021. The area is currently adjacent to the 370-acre Brambleton Regional Park and includes a portion of property of the Beaverdam Reservoir.

Beaverdam is a local source for drinking water and stands at 622 acres, owned and managed by Loudoun County Water. The proposal of the plans is aimed towards enhancing water- and land-based recreational activities throughout the area, as the park area will offer educational opportunities on water protection through Loudoun County Water in the future.

The future site can be accessed through an existing driveway at the intersection of Northstar Boulevard and Belmont Road.

Editor’s note: This is a developing story. As plans evolve, we will continue to update coverage as information is released.
