The Fairfax County Park Authority is working on an update of the master plan for Grist Mill Park, located in Alexandria’s Mount Vernon District. As the community and its needs continue to grow, the Park Authority seeks to make the park’s facilities more dynamic and modern.

Park master plans are set in place by the Park Authority to establish long-range visions of future park uses and features, specific to a given park. The plans are set to properly make future improvements and changes, while ensuring natural and cultural resources are preserved.

A public meeting on the master plan revision for Grist Mill Park was held on March 4. Now, the community’s comments will be considered and the draft plan will be adjusted as needed. Next, the final version of the park master plan will be presented to the Park Authority Board for approval.

Grist Mill Park sits on over 75 acres of property, with playing fields, garden plots, an off-leash dog area, a historic barn, hiking and biking trails and forest land.

The park’s current master plan was approved in 2002. For more information on its revision, click here. // Grist Mill Park: 4710 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway, Alexandria
