Arlington could be adding Ballston to Shirlington bus route; Four Centreville animals test positive for rabies

Though plans will not be finalized until this December, Arlington Transit is considering adding a route connecting Ballston and Shirlington. The community can weigh on in all proposed changes here by Oct. 19.

Skunks and a raccoon in Centreville tested positive for rabies, and Fairfax County officials are advising that those who believe they may have been scratched or bitten by a wild animal in the area between Aug. 26-Sept. 27 contact the Fairfax County Health Department’s Rabies Program at 703-246-2433.

The 32-year-old man who barricaded himself inside Richmond Highway’s Virginia Lodge Motel and escaped police by climbing through the ceiling is believed to have now broken into and stolen items out of cars on Belle Haven Road and Radcliffe Lane. The man, Alton Thodos, has also been accused of stealing a 2012 Subaru Outback from Arlington County; sneaking into someone’s home while they were there, stealing car keys and driving off with their 2018 Nissan Rogue; and also stealing a 2007 Nissan Titan.
