Potomac Nationals keep player development contract with Washington Nationals; String of 7-Eleven robberies occur in Loudoun County

Monday, the Washington Nationals announced that they have issued a two-year player development contract extension with the Potomac Nationals, which will move from Woodbridge to Fredericksburg upon the April 2020 opening of a new 5,000-seat stadium. The contract will remain in effect until 2020.

Early on Monday, two 7-Eleven stores (one in the 100 block of Dry Mill Road SW, Leesburg, and the other in the 700 block of Fieldstone Drive, Leesburg) were robbed by a masked individual demanding money and claiming to have a gun. A robber attempted to steal from the 7-Eleven located in the 46100 block of Sterling’s Woodshire Drive next, but a deputy arrived as the robber was attempting to take cash, causing the robber to flee the scene in a light-colored, four-door sedan.

To improve 911 response times and cut back on the number of operator transfers, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office and Combined Fire and Rescue System are hoping to find a solution, starting with training all operators how to handle both fire and law enforcement calls.

Saturday, a 53-year-old Warrenton woman was found dead in an inflatable pool in the 6700 block of Riley Road. The cause of death is being investigated and the woman’s 51-year-old brother, Ashton Dunlap Berry, was taken into custody.
