For two months, expect overnight eastbound lane closures on I-66; Loudoun residents may have been exposed to measles

I-66‘s eastbound lanes will be closed overnight between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. for the next two months. Construction will bring about a Washington and Old Dominion trail bridge over Lee Highway, sound barriers and a ramp to the West Falls Church Metro Station.

Those that visited either the Inova Medical Center in Purcellville on Aug. 17 between 8 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., or 2 Riverbend Building ( 44084 Riverside Parkway, Lansdowne) on Aug. 20 from 1-5 p.m. may have been exposed to measles. If infected, symptoms may not appear until Sept. 10, though if you have received the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine, your chance of contracting the disease is low.

The man suspected of killing two and wounding nine others during a shooting at a Jacksonville, Florida video game tournament is believed to be Baltimore 24-year-old David Katz. The gunman died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Federal agents investigated Katz’s apartment for four-and-a-half hours.

On Sept. 7, the Kennedy Center will reopen the southern entrances to its parking garage, which were previously closed due to an expansion project. Hundreds of parking spaces will now be available.

The Fredericksburg City Council voted to keep its downtown slave auction block, but is still trying to come up with a way to use it to tell the area’s story. The International Coalition of Sites of Conscience, a nonprofit group, has been hired to help, and opportunities for the community to weigh in are being planned.
