Loudoun County bridge damaged by Tuesday storms; Flood warning in effect for parts of NoVA until 11 a.m.

A Waterford bridge located near near Stumptown Road and Bankfield Drive was damaged during Tuesday night’s storms and will, according to authorities, “be closed for a significant amount of time.”

Through 11 a.m. on Wednesday, the National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for multiple NoVA areas including: Centreville, Chantilly, Manassas and Manassas Park, Sudley and Clifton.

Crews began demolishing the Centreville Forest Glen Apartments for seniors, which caught fire in May and forced 127 people out of their homes. A chain-link fence prevented former residents from entering to retrieve personal items, and those same former residents were told by management that the only way they could recover their personal items is if they pick them up from the landfill.

Though many believed that Virginia regulators would take back two natural gas pipeline permits (one of them is the Mountain Valley Pipeline whose construction has damaged the area’s terrain, and the other is the Atlantic Coast Pipeline) on Tuesday, the only changes that were made concern stricter enforcement.

On Sept. 29, Arlington County will have participating bikers deliver food, water, supplies and messages to various checkpoints though a “Disaster Relief Trials” event that hopes to simulate what could happen if roads are impassible during a disaster.
