A fire broke out at a high-rise apartment building in Alexandria’s 5000 block of Holmes Run Parkway early Monday morning, which firefighters responded to at 2 a.m. Three people were transported to an area medical center after being evaluated for smoke inhalation. Residents were allowed to re-enter shortly after 4 a.m.

On the Farifax County Parkway on Sunday, two people were killed and two were sent to the hospital following a 2 a.m. crash in which a 2004 Acura MDX lost control and drove off the road.
