27 displaced by two-alarm Woodbridge apartment fire; Woman at Fairfax spa assaulted by 51-year-old masseur

At 4 a.m. on Tuesday, a two-alarm fire broke out in a Woodbridge apartment building, displacing 27 individuals. The cause of the blaze is believed to be from someone leaving food on the stove unattended.

A 51-year-old masseur from Prince William County was arrested for assaulting a woman getting a massage at Bella Luna Day Spa in McLean. Police are asking those that may have experienced a similar incident to come forward.

Virginia Del. Phil Hamilton, serving 10 years in prison due to a corruption conviction in 2011, is asking that President Donald Trump pardon him.

Since 2000, more than 14,500 Arlington homes have surpassed “market affordable” rates. The Northern Virginia Housing Alliance points out a decreasing number of homes are available to those that make 60 percent of the area’s median income, which is $49,260 for a one-person home and $70,320 for a four-person home in Arlington.

Friday, the Federal Transit Administration said in a letter to Metro General Manager Paul J. Wiedefeld that all new stainless-still rail cars must have a second set of “between-car barriers” installed by Dec. 31. If the barriers are not added, 25 percent of Metro’s federal funding will be withheld. This change comes after a blind passenger fell into the gap between two cars last month.
