White supremacist propaganda found in Clarendon; Fairfax house fire kill two, hospitalizes two others

Monday, a flier advertising for the white supremacist group Identity Evropa was found on Washington Blvd. in Clarendon. The flier featured white men with the words “Our Generation, Our Future, Our Last Chance.”

At 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, firefighters arrived at 11401 Popes Head Road to find a home with flames coming from all four sides. One person died at the hospital, one was found dead inside the home, one is in critical condition and one is being treated for smoke inhalation at the hospital.

The Fredericksburg-based company NetTalon has installed a $400,000 security system into what some are saying is the “safest school in America” in Shelbyville, Indiana. Through the security system, an attacker is locked out of all rooms, smoke packs are released from the hallway ceilings and the school can be monitored through live video from the sheriff’s office.

At the intersection of Reston Parkway and Bluemont Way, a 71-year-old woman was struck and killed by a 2016 Hyundai Elantra Monday at 11:30 a.m. The driver of the vehicle stayed on the scene.

Friday, police were made aware of a threat made by a student on Snapchat to “shoot up” South Lakes High School. Following an investigation, “no threats, charges or arrests” were made.

In March, a 27-year-old Alexandria school resource officer accidentally fired his weapon in his George Washington Middle School office. The officer, Carl Savoy, was indicted on two misdemeanor charges on Monday.
