In the midst of the polar vortex that has been hitting Northern Virginia with frigid weather, some are trying to keep a light-hearted attitude.

Wayde Byard is the public information officer for Loudoun County Public Schools, so he makes the call on whether school will be cancelled or delayed due to weather for the county. Considering how many snow days the county has had off in the past weeks, kids have taken to the internet to praise Byard in the best way they know: to make him into a popular meme. Byard has become The Godfather, a character from Game of Thrones, and many other well-known pop culture figures in these images that are spreading across the internet. Most recently, Byard’s face was added to groundhog’s head, announcing “six more weeks of snow days.”

A page was created on Facebook to showcase the memes and offer more fan appreciation for the school official, entitled “Friends of Wayde Byard.” After the memes started spreading, the page now has more than 7,000 likes. Brian Kachel, a Loudoun County resident and LCPS alum, said that he wished there was more snow days when he was in school, “I’m sure my class would have come up with some great memes too.”
