After a short wait, the Simon Pearce storefront in Alexandria has officially opened its doors to visitors. Opening on Friday, the newest location on King Street becomes the first in Virginia and 11th Simon Pearce store in the country.
The home store is full of a variety of handcrafted drinkware, serveware, and decor to help decorate your space, including its signature handmade glass creations. According to its website, the “shop features an onsite lighting studio, gift registry shop, personal shopping services, and easy curbside pickup.”
The storefront on King Street will be taking up residence where the former greeting card and stationery chain, Papyrus, lived until the brick-and-mortar went out of business earlier this year.
Before the Alexandria store opened, the closest location to NoVA residents was located in Oakland, Maryland, near Deep Creek Lake. The Maryland location offers tours of the glass blowing factory until 2:30 p.m. daily. The Vermont- and Maryland-based business was started by namesake Simon Pearce back when he was 16, experimenting on glass in his father’s studio. Eventually, Pearce traveled to Europe to learn from the best glassmakers before opening his own studio. 721 King St., Alexandria
