Three NoVA homes will be among seven on the DC-Metro Modern Home tour coming up on Saturday, October 5.
The annual tour, presented by listModern and now in its seventh year, takes you inside houses in Arlington, McLean, Northwest DC, and Bethesda, Maryland, that feature modern architecture and design by some of Greater Washington’s best architects.
You can tour the homes and meet the designers between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
You can get two tickets for the tour for a discounted price of $85 online or a single ticket for $45. Tickets for children between 10 and 17 run $10, but children under 10 are not allowed.
Two days before the tour, you’ll get a printable PDF map and links to an online map to go to the homes. Your ticket gets you into the home and into the after-party at LXRY in DC.
Here are the NoVA homes that will be featured.

Alair Homes
Originally built in 1924, a mother passed this home in Arlington’s Penrose neighborhood to her daughter. The original foundation stayed. The rebuild turned the home into a 5,000-square-foot, five-bedroom, six-bathroom house with 10-foot ceilings and white oak flooring. It has an open concept with a chef’s kitchen, quartzite island, and paneled appliances. The upstairs features a primary suite with a walk-in shower, floating vanities, and a soaking tub. It also has a media room and wine cellar.

This 2024 remodel of a 1928 Tudor-style home kept many of the traditional details, while adding modern ones. The 2,500-square-foot home in Arlington Ridge has four bedrooms and four bathrooms. It has an articulated open plan that brings together the kitchen, living, and dining areas. Among the features to see: a stained glass window and door, integrated LED light artwork, an office that has wall and floor tile.

This 6,500-square-foot new build in McLean shows off clean lines, floor-to-ceiling windows, and custom stairs by Gutierrez Studios out of Baltimore. The two-story modern home has six bedrooms and six-and-a-half bathrooms. The architect said the client wanted an imposing, exclusive exterior paired with an inviting, open interior.
