Silver Spring, Maryland-based Silver Branch Brewing Company, will open a second location in Fauquier County.
Silver Branch Brewing will invest $3 million in its Warrenton facility, where it will have a brewery, taproom, and restaurant at the site of Wort Hog Brewing Company, which closed in 2022.
“We are excited to join Virginia’s vibrant craft beer community. I grew up in Vienna and my co-founder, Brett [Robinson], is from Great Falls, so bringing our beer into the commonwealth is a lifelong ambition,” said Christian Layke, in a news release.
“For us, beer is more than a liquid, it’s a welcoming social experience we call Gemütlichkeit (German for comfort) and it’s essential to our ethos. We look forward to welcoming Virginians into our new tasting room in Old Town Warrenton; but first, we are seeking enthusiastic beer lovers from Fauquier and surrounding counties to join our team.”
Virginia, according to the governor’s office, competed with Maryland for the brewery that will create 38 jobs. The Virginia Economic Development Partnership will support the brewery’s production-related job creation through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program, a program that offers consulting services and funding to companies creating new jobs.
“Silver Branch Brewing Company will be the perfect complement to our established community of wonderful restaurants, craft breweries, cideries, and unique retail shops,” said Warrenton Mayor Carter Nevill. “We look forward to working with them and helping them thrive for years to come.”
Layke and Robinson created Silver Spring Brewing Company in 2019. The Warrenton location is expected to open in fall.
Warrenton is home to several breweries, including some that are hidden gems. In Northern Virginia, a number of breweries are known for their award-winning craft brews, as well as for being family-friendly.
