9 New Ice Cream Shops in Northern Virginia

You’ll be able to find over-the-top sundaes, flavors of the day, and handcrafted sweets at these NoVA ice cream shops.

Summer is here, and what better way to kick it off than with a sweet treat? With the new season comes plenty of new ice cream shops to try. Start planning your local ice cream tour with these nine shops that are new and coming soon in Northern Virginia.

Dumont Creamery & Cafe 

Last October, it was announced that Dumont Creamery & Cafe was coming to Greenbriar Town Center. The new store has yet to announce an opening date. This will be the ice cream shop’s first Virginia location. 13041 Lee Jackson Memorial Hwy., Ste. C, Fairfax

Kilwins

The chocolate, fudge, and ice cream store is adding more stores in Northern Virginia. With existing locations in Alexandria, Arlington (which opened at the end of 2025), and Fredericksburg (opened in March 2026), the store is expanding. The new Leesburg sweets store is slated to open late summer or early fall, according to The Burn. 17 S. King St., Leesburg

Bruster’s Real Ice Cream 

Cascades Overlook Town Center is about to be your go-to for a sweet treat. The previous location of Qwench Juice Bar and DRNK Coffee Shop is now home to Sterling’s first Bruster’s, the fourth in Loudoun County. 21385 Epicerie Plz., Ste. 150, Sterling

GVino Wine & Gelato Bar

Cocktails and gelato combine in this Leesburg speakeasy. During the day, head to the bar for a fresh scoop of gelato imported directly from Italy. At night, the lights go down and the sweet treats are swapped for classic cocktails. 108 South St. SE, Leesburg

Moo Thru

The fan-favorite ice cream shop opened its seventh location in Virginia with its Burke franchise. You can enjoy the same handcrafted ice cream Moo Thru is known for, just without the drive-thru access. 6025H Burke Centre Pkwy., Burke

The Meadows Original Frozen Custard

After closing its One Loudoun location in December 2024, the ice cream shop reopened this winter in Reston. The Meadows offers frozen custard, Italian ice, shakes, cookies, and more. The Scoop N Scootery

You’ve probably seen the treats from this new Arlington shop all over your social feeds. The viral ice cream shop opened its first Virginia location. Get your sweet tooth ready for 70 varieties of sundaes, shakes, cookies, and floats. 1138 N. Irving St., Arlington

Van Leeuwen

This ice cream chain just opened three NoVA locations: in Ashburn, Alexandria, and Ballston. Each store features 30 signature flavors, including vegan options. Whistler’s Ice Cream Extraordinaire

Located in the Village Green shopping center in Vienna, this new ice cream shop has opened just in time for summer treats. The menu at Whistler’s features ultra-premium French custard, offering about 12 different flavors at a time. It also donates $.25 from every purchase to help support the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue community. 521 Maple Ave. W., Vienna
