New Peter Chang Restaurant Slated for Alexandria

Expect to find some of the chef’s same great dishes at the new establishment.

We have good news for fans of Peter Chang. The star chef is opening a new restaurant to Alexandria.

Chang’s 19th restaurant will be located just off North Kings Highway at South Alex, a mixed-use development. It will be situated between KPot and Inspire Nail Bar. Other offerings currently open or in the works for South Alex include PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans and Big Papi’s. The development also features 400 apartments, more than 40 townhouses, and a 20,000-square-foot Aldi.

Last year, Chang’s restaurant group opened two NoVA locations. Peter Chang Herndon opened in September, and a new concept, NiHao, opened in National Landing in May.

The chef’s Mama Chang restaurant in Fairfax has been named as one of Northern Virginia Magazine‘s 50 Best. And it was voted the best Chinese restaurant by readers in this year’s Best of NoVA poll.

“The most important thing is we want our guests to be adventurous and to know that Chinese cuisine comes in so many different regional cuisines,” Chang said in our 2024 interview with the chef. “We try to offer a different variety of regional cuisine, like the Hunan cuisine and a little bit of Hubei, which is our hometown.”

Chang’s new Alexandria restaurant has yet to announce an opening date.
