Peter Chang’s Next Restaurant Opens Soon in Herndon

The restaurant’s co-owner says this is the first of many planned restaurants around NoVA.

Great news for Northern Virginia foodies: Iconic Chinese chef and restaurateur Peter Chang opens Peter Chang Herndon on Saturday, September 28.

Located at 2322 Silver Arrow Way in Herndon’s Arrowbrook Centre, the newest outpost from the James Beard semifinalist and acclaimed chef is the 12th location of his eponymous restaurant.

“Chinese cuisine is one of the cornerstones of Chinese culture, and Chef Peter believes that even the most delectable dishes are better when shared among friends and family,” says Lydia Chang, co-owner and business partner for the restaurant.

“To reach every community in Northern Virginia and provide convenient access to great Chinese food for everyone, Peter Chang Herndon, the newest addition to the Peter Chang Restaurant family, is our first of many planned restaurants around Northern Virginia.”

The chef and restaurateur’s signature cuisine has taken the DMV by storm since 2010. Shareables are the name of the game at the Herndon outpost. Similar to Chang’s recently opened NiHao Arlington and Peter Chang Gaithersburg, new Herndon spot will feature a try a little of this, a little of that tapas-style menu.

“Peter Chang Herndon offers a wide variety of dishes from Tapas-Style small dishes for trying out new things to large centerpiece dishes meant to wow a whole group and from brunch time dim sum for a family gathering to evening take-outs and deliveries to friends just hanging out,” Lydia Chang says.

Shareable plates like steamed BBQ pork bao, Taiwanese popcorn chicken, and Wanzhou broiled branzino will be served. Guests can order the dim sum platter box for a variety of dishes, which include pork soup and shrimp dumplings, veggie spring rolls, chili oil shrimp and pork wontons, and more. Chang also offers vegan dishes like scallion pancakes, spicy dry fried eggplant, vegan spicy dan dan noodles, and pan-fried vegetable dumplings.

A wildly popular and award-winning chef, Peter Chang specializes in Szechuan cuisine. Born and trained as a chef in China, he moved to the U.S. to work as head chef at the Chinese Embassy in Washington, DC, before branching out into the restaurant business. Chang is renowned for cooking up bold flavors, earning accolades from The New York Times, Washington Post, and Travel & Leisure.

“We guarantee you’ll find something mouthwatering, something adventurous, something nostalgic or something that might just be your new favorite,” Lydia Chang says.

Locals are eager to check out Chang’s latest iteration.

“I’m very excited to have a new high-end Asian restaurant in town,” says Herndon resident Tim Rooney, who plans to visit the eatery soon.

The Herndon restaurant will also offer a full-service bar, complete with baijiu cocktails. The new restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday.
