These Northern Virginia Restaurants Are RAMMYS Winners

Five local restaurants won big at last night’s virtual ceremony.

Did you watch The RAMMYS last night? For the first time ever, the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) live-streamed their annual awards for a virtual experience that the general public could join as viewers. The ceremony took place last night and Northern Virginia won big. While the awards honored finalists based on the 2019 year of dining, RAMW recognized that 2020 has posed new challenges. The RAMMYS made sure to applaud the fact that restaurants are fighting for their lives and making it work one day at a time.

Even before last night, restaurant fanatics knew that  Great American Restaurants founder Randy Norton would be picking up the Duke Ziebert Capital Achievement Award for his 46 years in the industry. Other winners included one award decided by the voting public. Trummer’s won for best upscale brunch thanks to votes from the public. The rest of the winners were chosen by a panel of volunteer judges, including food and dining journalists, educators and foodservice industry professionals.

Field & Main won for Wine Program of the Year, with a menu that focuses on local Virginia vintages. Yasmin Orozco took home Employee of the Year for her work at Taco Bamba in Springfield. Manager of the Year was Jamal Flowers of Rocklands Barbeque & Grilling Co. in Alexandria.

Since this is a year when restaurants truly need your business, the best way to celebrate these wins for our region is to head out at have a meal at a winning business.
