6 New Brunches to Try in Northern Virginia

Order up decadent pastries, Southern staples, or upscale dining experiences at these new brunch spots.

By Dawn Klavon October 10, 2025 at 7:00 am

Northern Virginia’s brunch scene is more delicious than ever. From Parisian-style brasseries to comfort food taverns and modern bakeries that spark early-morning lines, new spots are giving weekend dining a fresh twist. Whether you’re craving decadent pastries, Southern staples, or an upscale experience with flair, these six brunch newcomers are setting the stage for memorable mornings.

Brasserie Royale

From the owners of acclaimed Local Provisions, Brasserie Royale brings Parisian flair to Sterling with a French brasserie–inspired brunch. Expect superbly-done classics like croque madame, fresh-baked breads, sticky buns, lobster omelets and an upscale yet approachable vibe. Brunch runs Saturdays and Sundays until 3:30 p.m. 46290 Cranston St, Sterling

Nettie’s Tavern

Restaurateur Reese Gardner’s new gastropub blends Italian and Appalachian traditions, paying homage to Nettie, an Italian immigrant from West Virginia. The brunch menu shines with pepperoni rolls, tiramisu French toast and short rib hash. 2854 Wilson Blvd., Arlington

Layered Bakery

One of Fairfax’s trendiest new bakeries, Layered has quickly become a brunch destination for coffee and pastry lovers. Enjoy specialty coffee alongside artful pastries, cakes and desserts — made in small batches to ensure freshness. Beware: Lines form well before doors open, but word on the street is the croissants and cruffins are worth the wait. 3924 Blenheim Blvd., Fairfax

Shutters on King

Located in a historic Leesburg building, Shutters on King crafts a seasonal, locally sourced menu in an intimate setting. Brunch highlights include crispy pork belly hash, blackened shrimp and polenta and shakshuka. The stocked raw bar and cocktail bar add bonus points. 102 S. King St., Leesburg

The Simon

At Reston Station’s new JW Marriott, The Simon elevates brunch with Mid-Atlantic flavors and global technique. Dishes like black truffle biscuits and gravy or a Maryland crab roll pair well with refined cocktails from the adjoining elegant Schar Bar. Brunch Saturday and Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 11340 Reston Station Blvd., Reston

The menu highlights refined yet comforting dishes such as the smoked salmon benedict with bearnaise, a goat cheese and peperonata omelette, pain perdu topped with warm maple syrup, vanilla whipped cream and apples, and the frico friulano, a savory creation of fontina and caramelized onion. 11950 Democracy Dr., Reston
