For those celebrating Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, many area delis, caterers, and grocery stores offer prepared meals to help ease some of the stress of preparing for the holidays.
Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year, begins at sunset on September 22 and ends at sunset on September 24. It’s followed by Yom Kippur, a Day of Atonement that comes with a 25-hour fast. Yom Kippur begins at sunset on October 1 and ends at sunset on October 2.

Bethesda Bagels
Bethesda Bagels’ 2025 Yom Kippur menu has options for platters or boxes of bagels with a range of toppings, from Nova lox to tuna and egg salad. It also offers trays of fruit and cookies, plus à la carte items like challah and kugel. There is a minimum of two dozen bagels ($60) to qualify for pre-order. Brooklyn Bagel Bakery
For Yom Kippur, Brooklyn Bagel offers bagel platters with an assortment of toppings, suited for parties larger than 10 people. Celebrity Delly
Celebrity Delly, the runner-up in Northern Virginia Magazine’s 2024 NoVA Wars: Breakfast Edition, has à la carte options for Rosh Hashana that are available while supplies last. Option include brisket by the pound, sliced turkey, and matzoh ball soup.
For Yom Kippur, Celebrity Delly is taking preorders for its platters. The deli offers a smoked fish bagel platter, a Nova bagel platter, and a la carte options. The platters serve a minimum of 10 people. 7263A Arlington Blvd., Falls Church
Balducci’s
Head to Balducci’s to pick up catering for the High Holy Days, available September 12 through October 3, while supplies last. There are five options for full dinners, including brisket, turkey, pomegranate-glazed chicken, stuffed eggplant, and a pistachio-and-parsley-crusted salmon dinner. Whole Foods offers another convenient opportunity for serving a crowd during the holidays. There are options for a cider-glazed chicken meal, a honey-lemon salmon meal, and a fast-breaking feast with bagels and quiche.
