Port City to Showcase 19 Breweries at Beer Festival

Visit the Alexandria taproom on August 16 for a taste of beers from around the country.

Love beer, but can’t decide on just one? Port City Brewing Company in Alexandria will host its second annual Port to Port Beer Festival on August 16. So you can chose to sample beers from among 19 guest breweries.

The festival will feature many breweries from Northern Virginia – like Atlas Brewing, Solace Brewing Company, and DC Brau – alongside some from farther afield. Some noteworthy visiting breweries include Radeberger from Radeberger, Germany, and Jackie O’s from Athens, Ohio.

Festival attendees will receive a five-ounce tasting glass and unlimited pours with their ticket. The festival also includes yard games, a DJ, and a taco station from La Tingeria.

The festival runs from noon to 4 p.m. Festival beers are only available to ticketholders, but the taproom will remain open for the public. Tickets are on sale for an early-bird discount of $50; it increases to $60 on August 11. Designated driver tickets are $10.

Port City’s New Brews

To add to the excitement, the award-winning brewery will be rolling out two new beers. The first, Koji Kai, is a dry-hopped grisette brewed with Koji rice. The brewery describes it as complex “while remaining crisp and sessionable.” It was made in collaboration with Stone Brewing, Vasen Brewing, and North American Sake Brewing.

The second is a sour watermelon gose, which it describes as the “perfect balance of sweet, salty, and citrusy tang.”
