With so many wineries around Northern Virginia, it can be hard to pick a favorite. After five rounds of voting, Northern Virginians were able to go from 32 outstanding wineries across the region to one. The winner of this year’s NoVA Wars: Winery Edition is Three Fox Vineyards & Brewery.
The Delaplane winery defeated Quattro Goombas Winery, Linden Vineyards, Walsh Family Wine, and Delaplane Cellars to earn this year’s title of best winery.
Three Fox was established in 2002 and reimagined in 2020. The Delaplane winemaker focuses on creating small batch wines — less than 100 cases — in order to adapt to current research and industry trends. Right now, the tasting room is serving 11 different varietals.
And if you’re bringing along someone who isn’t a big wine fan, they can always order one of Three Fox’s refreshing beers. Beers currently on tap include Foxy Lite, Foxtoberfest, and Arctic Kit Cold IPA.
The expansive property offers plenty of spots to sip your drink depending on your mood and party size. The tasting room features two bars, balcony seating, and a dual fireplace for those cold winter months. When the temperatures are warm, consider grabbing a spot on the patio or deck. Both spaces offer incredible views of the property, and the deck is open year-round.
Want to be surrounded by the views? Consider reserving a table among the vines during the summer and fall months. When you have your kids or dogs in tow, set up a spot at the meadow and creek. The outdoor space is only open from May to October, but features plenty of grassy areas to run around and an outdoor bar.
The vineyard is open Thursdays through Sundays, with times varying each day. 10100 Three Fox Ln., Delaplane
