6 Great Places to Eat and Drink Near Nats Park

Here’s where to enjoy a beer and some grub on Opening Day.

By Will Vitka March 28, 2023 at 8:26 am

Take me out to the ballgame — but let’s get some good grub, too.

Thursday is Opening Day at Nationals Park, when the Nats will face off against the Atlanta Braves. The thrills (and, let’s be honest, potential boring stretches) of America’s pastime notwithstanding, Navy Yard is home to a host of different food and drink options.

Here are six great places to eat and drink near Nationals Park, regardless of whether you’re in the neighborhood for baseball.

Andy’s Pizza and Atlas Brew Works

Andy’s Pizza and Atlas Brew Works is an excellent spot to grab a slice and a beer. Andy’s New York-style pizza offerings are award-winning. Atlas boasts 15 taps and a dozen TVs to cheer your team while you imbibe. And, of course, there are Old Bay wings. 1201 Half St. SE, Washington, DC

Bullpen at Half Street Fairgrounds

The Bullpen is great for game days, and it gets lively. There is plenty of beer and bites from food trucks to keep your taste buds happy in a big outdoor space. There are $5 happy-hour drinks from the third to the seventh innings of every Nationals home game. 1201 Half St. SE, Washington, DC

Dacha Beer Garden

Dacha Navy Yard is just behind Nats Park. It has a curated menu including German, Belgian, and American craft beers, as well as burgers and German sausages. Like all of the best hangout spots, Dacha has a dog-friendly beer garden so you can enjoy your time out with a fuzzy friend. 79 Potomac Ave. SE, Washington, DC

Silver Diner

Silver Diner’s Navy Yard offering is right across the street from Nationals Park. At this location only, while the restaurant is on the main floor, a 21-and-up lounge is on the second floor. Of course, it still has all its diner fare, including all-day breakfast. 1250 Half St. SE, Washington, DC

Solace Outpost Navy Yard

Solace Brewing is a Northern Virginia original. Along with its craft beers and much-loved IPAs, there are brats, burgers, and tots at the Anacostia waterfront location. As an added bonus, Solace fills growlers. If you forgot yours at home, it also sells them. 71 Potomac Ave. SE, Washington, DC

Takoda Navy Yard

Takoda has brought the same bustling bar scene as its Shaw spot to Navy Yard. It has the food and the drinks, plus a rooftop bar that boasts fabulous neighborhood views. We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the bottomless brunches every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. 1299 First St. SE, Washington, DC
