Lego lovers unite: Springfield Town Center’s new Lego Discovery Center is slated to officially launch in August. The ribbon for the 32,000-square-foot indoor playground dedicated to Legos will be cut August 9, but it won’t open to the general public until August 14.
The first chance for eager families to explore the new park will be the “First to Play Days” starting Thursday, August 10 through Wednesday, August 16. These seven days are an opportunity to score advanced entry and a discounted rate for annual passes. Tickets for August 10 are sold out, although tickets for the rest of the days are available.
“The entire LEGO Discovery Center Washington, D.C. team could not be more thrilled to be opening our doors and welcoming families inside this August,” said General Manager Therese Alvich, in a news release. “We are truly bringing LEGO experiences to life at our new Center! Children will be able to let their imagination and creativity run wild in each of our unique and immersive zones.”
Kids 2–12 years old, visitors will be able to learn, create, and play in 12 themed zones. The Building Adventure Zone and the Make Your Minifigure zone allow kids to get creative with Legos. The Hero Zone will provide action-packed entertainment with challenges such as a climbing wall and a Lego laser maze. There will be a 4D cinema, a train ride, and a café.
Merline Entertainment broke ground last December. The NoVA location is the 29th of its kind around the world.
