Luxury retirement community announces new property in Fairfax

The Providence will offer studio-, one- and two-bedroom residences in the MetroWest neighborhood.

Chef-driven restaurants, opportunities for continuing education and a day spa: one company is definitely upping the game for retirement living.

Watermark Retirement Communities is planning on a March opening for its new Northern Virginia community, The Providence. Situated in the MetroWest neighborhood of Fairfax, The Providence is designed to be a new model and non-traditional approach to retirement living, offering 100 Assisted Living and 30 Memory Care residences and 24 residences in The Bridge, a neighborhood serving those with mild cognitive impairment.

The brand new, seven-story building is designed in a regional style with red brick cladding and white accents; located within are private studio-, one- and two-bedroom residences available for rental on a monthly basis with no long-time commitment required. Apartments have amenities like high-end appliances in modern kitchenettes, upscale design details, lots of natural light and airy tall ceilings; some apartments also include private balconies.

Outside the apartments, residents will find features and offerings akin to those of luxury resorts including concierge services, restaurants with chef-driven cuisine, a rooftop terrace with fire pits and seating and a salon and day spa. As part of its Watermark University, residents can continue to learn and improve their wellness, while EngageVR is an education and uplifting virtual reality exercise to keep brains active and sharp.

“The Providence is perfect for anyone searching for the support and connection of a community accompanied by first-class amenities and unparalleled wellness and learning opportunities,” said executive director Annamarie Mariani-Huehn in a statement.

Amenities and activities notwithstanding, The Providence’s main focus is firmly on the health of its residents, including putting innovations in place to reduce or prevent virus transmission. The facility offers enhanced filtration and HVAC systems, cold plasma bipolar ionization, humidity levels between 40-60% and touchless technology in common areas. The facility has been with sustainability in mind and has achieved LEED Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

The community is now leasing and open for tours by appointment.
