Round out your summer with these local August festivals. There are events celebrating food, ones featuring kites, and a weekend devoted to peaches to add to your calendar.
Peach Fuzztival at Great Country Farms
August 1 and 2, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Fans of the classic summer fruit will want to head to this festival celebrating all things peaches. The festival is a collaboration among Bluemont Vineyard, Dirt Farm Brewing, Henway Hard Cider, and Great Country Farms. There will be a peach pie-eating contest, peach-pit-spitting contest, and lots of family water games to cool off. Alexandria Beats, Bites, and Brews
August 1, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Classic summer fun will be at John Carlyle Park for Alexandria’s Beats, Bites, and Brews festival. Expect an afternoon of live music, a beer garden, nonalcoholic drinks, and lots of local arts and crafts. Prince William County Fair
Now through August 8, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. (some days vary)
Special events during the August portion of the fair are a two-day rodeo, monster truck event, color works display, a tractor pull, and a demolition derby. Taste of Leesburg
August 8, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The food festival features local farmer’s markets, food trucks, and local restaurants, all showcasing their best fare. Local beer and wine, cider, and mead are offering tastings for those age 21+. There are plans for live entertainment and exhibits featuring local shops, artisans, and merchants too. West Market St., Leesburg, free admission
Hogfest 2026
August 15, noon
Smoked barbecue, local vendors, and more will be at the first annual Hogfest BBQ and Music Festival. Local acts, including Custer Flock, the Robert Ray Band, and Tiny Hands will be performing. There are also plans for live improvisational painting inspired by the music at the festival, and of course plenty of food and drinks. 10470 Dumfries Rd., Manassas, $11.20
2026 Winchester Greek Festival
August 22, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and August 23, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
A tasty Greek festival will be at Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church the weekend of August 22 and August 23. In addition to traditional Greek food like gyros and moussaka, there will be lots of Greek music and dancing. The festival will take place rain or shine. 1700 Amherst St., Winchester, free admission
Leesburg Festival of Crafts & Kites
August 22, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Ida Lee Park is playing host to this family-friendly festival. Arts and crafts stations, as well as for-sale handmade goods will be part of the afternoon. Of course, kites in all colors of the rainbow will be dotting the sky. The event is pet friendly and will be held rain or shine. 60 Ida Lee Dr., NW, Leesburg, free
KidsFest
August 29, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Reston Town Center is hosting a family-friendly festival all about kids. There are plans for live music, interactive games, and entertainment throughout the day. The festival is part of Reston Town Center’s busy summer events schedule, which includes outdoor concerts, pups in the pavilion nights, exercise classes, and more. 11900 Market St., Reston, free
Around the World Cultural Food Festival
August 29, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The festival’s 10th anniversary is this year, and it will be celebrated at Oronoco Bay Park in Alexandria. There will be traditional dishes and drinks from all over the world to purchase, as well as artisans and crafters selling their wares. Folk show singers and dancers from various countries will be performing throughout the day. 100 Madison St., Alexandria, free admission
