Dodona Manor, the former home of General George Catlett Marshall and a National Historic Landmark in Leesburg, is hosting Dracula’s Midnight Masquerade. The immersive experience is being held at the restored home through November 1.
Dubbed “bigger, bloodier, and more immersive,” the experience is inspired by Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Not only will Dodona Manor’s interiors be transformed, but its gardens and grounds will be candlelit and creepy. Guests are invited to explore the grounds and meet the characters.
Interactive Production
“What makes our productions unique is that we blur the line between audience and performer,” says Cullen Gray, executive producer for Naut Human Productions, the production company behind the show. “Guests aren’t simply watching a story unfold. They’re stepping directly into it. And everyone can have a slightly different experience depending on where they go and what they encounter.”
This year’s production features new scenes and interactions in addition to add-on experiences. Dracula and his brides will be performing live theater and music, along with elements of horror.
“Our goal isn’t just to scare people. We want to transport them somewhere else entirely and make them feel as though they’ve wandered into a living Gothic nightmare,” Gray says.
Extra Experiences
Optional add-on experiences include an age 21+ “Crimson Curse” pre-show and post-show event. VIP guests can enter the historic cellar a few minutes before the show for a theatrical scene away from general audiences.
After the main performance, there is a guided vampire walking tour through downtown Leesburg to check out local history and spooky tales of the undead. The Crimson Curse is limited to 13 guests per show; purchasing tickets in advance is recommended. Themed drinks and snacks are available at a cash bar.
Attendees should be able to stand, walk, and navigate stairs. The experience has theatrical fog, flashing strobe lights, and depictions of violence and blood. Guests should dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. Masquerade attire is encouraged.
