Registration is now open for the first-ever DMV Girls Hockey Weekend. It will take place at 18 rinks across Maryland and Virginia on September 12 and 13.
The free event is a joint effort between the Washington Capitals, Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation, the Potomac Valley Amateur Hockey Association, and various youth hockey organizations. The goal is to introduce girls ages 4 to 9 to hockey at no cost.
Equipment will be loaned to participants through local youth hockey organizations. Equipment requirements vary per rink; registrants will be sent an email from their host rink prior to the event with details.
Participating clubs in Northern Virginia include:
- Ashburn Ice House
- Caps Academy (at MedStar Capitals Iceplex in Arlington)
- Loudoun Knights (at Ion International Training Center in Leesburg)
- NOVA IceDogs (at Mount Vernon Rec Center in Alexandria)
- Piedmont Predators (at Haymarket IcePlex in Haymarket)
- Potomac Lady Patriots (at Prince William Ice Center in Woodbridge)
- Reston Raiders (at Skatequest in Reston)
